Terms of Use

Effective date: August 7, 2026
Last updated: August 8, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of MD Convert Lab at mdconvertlab.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you have not reached the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who can agree to these Terms on your behalf.

2. The Service

MD Convert Lab provides a browser-based tool that converts supported Markdown into a DOCX file. The current version is free and does not provide accounts, cloud document storage, shared documents, server-side conversion, payment, subscriptions, or refunds.

Supported elements, input limits, warnings, and compatibility may change as the Service is tested and improved. Features shown as unsupported or planned are not part of the current Service.

3. Browser-local processing

The Service is designed to process Markdown and generate the DOCX in your browser. We do not grant you cloud storage or backup. You are responsible for retaining your source document, downloading the output, and checking the result.

Normal hosting, security, and aggregate analytics requests still occur when you visit the site. The Privacy Policy explains those requests and the support email channel. Do not interpret browser-local conversion as a guarantee that no network metadata ever leaves your device.

4. Your content and rights

As between you and MD Convert Lab, you retain your rights in the Markdown, text, links, and other content you process and in the resulting DOCX to the extent permitted by applicable law. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not obtain a license to train on, publish, or commercially reuse it merely because you use the converter.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to process, convert, download, and use the content. You are responsible for third-party copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights, confidentiality duties, licenses, and other restrictions that apply to your content.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to:

  • violate applicable law or another person's rights;
  • process content you are not authorized to use or disclose;
  • process, create, distribute, or facilitate child sexual abuse material or any sexual exploitation of a minor;
  • process or distribute intimate or sexual content without the depicted person's consent, or use the Service for unlawful sexual exploitation, harassment, threats, or abuse;
  • create, distribute, or facilitate malware, malicious documents, fraud, phishing, or security abuse;
  • interfere with, probe, overload, reverse engineer in violation of applicable law, or bypass limits or security controls of the Service;
  • misrepresent the Service as an official Microsoft product or use the output to imply certification or endorsement that does not exist; or
  • use automated access in a manner that materially disrupts the Service.

We may restrict or discontinue access when reasonably necessary to protect the Service, users, providers, or legal rights.

The current browser-local version does not send document content to us for routine server-side content review. That processing design does not permit prohibited use, guarantee that content is lawful, or prevent us from acting on abuse or unlawful material that comes to our attention through support, security signals, or legally valid reports.

6. Links, images, and unsupported content

Only approved link protocols are made clickable. The current contract permits https: and mailto: links. Other protocols, including http:, javascript:, data:, and file:, may be reduced to visible text or accompanied by a warning.

The current version does not embed uploaded images or automatically fetch remote images. Image syntax may be represented by alt text or a warning. Raw HTML, scripts, iframes, macros, OLE objects, external templates, complex tables, math, diagrams, citations, comments, tracked changes, and other unsupported syntax may be ignored, reduced, or warned about.

Never treat the absence of a warning as confirmation that content is safe, accurate, licensed, or fully supported.

7. No affiliation with Microsoft

MD Convert Lab is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or certified by Microsoft. Microsoft Word and DOCX may be referenced only to describe file format or compatibility. Microsoft and its product names are trademarks of their respective owners.

8. Output review and compatibility

DOCX output can vary because of Markdown dialects, unsupported syntax, fonts, operating systems, Microsoft Word versions, other document applications, page size, and rendering behavior. Fonts may be substituted. Page breaks, tables, lists, spacing, and layout may differ among applications.

You must review the downloaded file before relying on it, submitting it, publishing it, or sharing it. The Service is not a substitute for professional document review, accessibility review, legal review, academic verification, or backup software.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, uninterrupted availability, and error-free or identical conversion.

We do not promise perfect formatting, complete support for every Markdown extension, compatibility with every word processor, preservation of every element, or continuous availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MD Convert Lab will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, documents, profits, business, goodwill, or opportunities arising from or related to the Service.

For the current free version, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for claims related to the Service will not exceed USD 100.

These limitations do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Your mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

11. Third-party services and software

The Service relies on hosting, analytics, email, and open-source software providers. Their services and software may be governed by separate terms and licenses. A Third-Party Notices file identifies open-source notices distributed with the production application. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

12. Changes, suspension, and termination

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including a free feature, at any time. We will not intentionally use a Terms change to retroactively claim ownership of your content. The current Terms will display their effective and last-updated dates.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Because there is no account in the current version, there is no account cancellation process.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. This choice of law does not mean that MD Convert Lab is incorporated or registered in Delaware, and it does not deprive you of mandatory protections that apply under the law of your place of residence.

14. Informal dispute resolution

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact support@mdconvertlab.com with a concise description of the issue and the requested resolution. We will try in good faith to resolve the matter informally. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not contain a class-action waiver. If a matter is not resolved, the parties may use remedies available under applicable law.

15. General terms

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms if doing so would transfer obligations or rights without our consent. We may transfer the Service and these Terms as part of a legitimate reorganization or transfer, subject to applicable law.

The Privacy Policy and any notices expressly incorporated into these Terms form part of the agreement concerning your use of the Service.
