Supported in this version

  • Paragraphs and H1–H6 headings
  • Bold, italic, and strikethrough
  • Ordered, unordered, and task lists
  • HTTPS and email links
  • Blockquotes and horizontal rules
  • Inline and fenced code
  • Basic GFM tables

Intentional limits

Support is intentionally scoped. Lists are preserved through three levels. Basic tables support up to 50 rows and 20 columns. A single code block may contain up to 10,000 characters, and a document may contain up to 500 links.

Only HTTPS and email links become clickable. Other link protocols remain visible as text and produce a warning.

Images are not fetched, uploaded, or embedded in V1. Image syntax is reduced to alt text with a warning.

Frequently asked questions

What Markdown does MD Convert Lab support?

V1 supports paragraphs, H1–H6 headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, ordered and unordered lists, task lists, HTTPS and email links, blockquotes, inline and fenced code, horizontal rules, basic GFM tables, escaped characters, line breaks, Unicode, emoji, CJK, and RTL text. Lists are covered through three levels, and basic size limits apply to tables, code blocks, and links.

Are images included in the DOCX?

No. V1 does not fetch, upload, or embed local or remote images. Image syntax is reduced to alt text and a conversion warning, so you can review or replace it after download.

Which links become clickable?

Only https: and mailto: destinations become clickable links. Other protocols, including http:, javascript:, data:, and file:, remain visible as text and produce a warning. This avoids creating unapproved external relationships in the DOCX.

Does MD Convert Lab upload my Markdown?

The converter is designed to process Markdown and generate the DOCX in your current browser session. Your Markdown, settings, preview, warnings, and DOCX are not intended to be uploaded to MD Convert Lab, Cloudflare, Plausible, Google, or another conversion provider. Ordinary hosting, security, and aggregate analytics requests still occur when you visit the site.

Can I open and edit the result in Microsoft Word?

MD Convert Lab generates a structured OOXML DOCX file. Compatibility with Microsoft Word, Word Online, LibreOffice Writer, and Google Docs remains subject to the published compatibility checks. Review the downloaded file before relying on it.

What is the V1 input limit?

The source must be valid UTF-8 text and no larger than 100 KiB or 100,000 characters. Tables are limited to 50 rows by 20 columns, a single code block to 10,000 characters, and a document to 500 links.

Use content you have the right to convert. Keep your own source, and review every generated DOCX before using or sharing it.

Clear the current document?

This removes the Markdown, preview, settings, warnings, and generated DOCX from the current page.
